Carrie Johnson rents second wedding dress for anniversary celebration

Mrs Johnson is said to be keen on promoting “sustainable” fashion, and the South African food on offer was billed as “eco-friendly”, although the party had a large carbon footprint as the guests were in rural areas. A fleet had arrived at the place. Range Rovers, Rolls Royce and even a helicopter.

Only about a dozen MPs, all of whom were loyal to the prime minister, were invited to the celebration, which had to be postponed due to Covid in May last year, when Catholic weddings at Westminster Cathedral were limited to 30 guests.

They included cabinet ministers Ben Wallace, Jacob Rees-Mogg and Nadine Doris, Amanda Milling, a former Conservative Party president, John Whittingdale, former culture secretary, and Jake Berry, former Northern powerhouse minister.

There was no room for any political allies such as former cabinet ministers Sajid Javid, Michael Gove and Brandon Lewis, who had helped force Mr Johnson’s resignation.

Other guests included Australian actress and singer Holly Valance, who is married to property developer Nick Candy; the prime minister’s father Stanley and sister Rachel; and Andrew Parsons, Mr Johnson’s official photographer, as well as his girlfriend Rhiannon Mills, Sky News’ royal correspondent.
