CODA co-stars reunite for new Disney+ series
coda Stars Troy Kotsur and Marlee Matlin will reunite for a new Disney+ series.
The still-untitled project will follow the true story of the 2021 Riverside Cubs football team, the first deaf team to make it to the California State Championship, with Kotsur acting as the team’s coach.

The series has been described as “an unprecedented story about the deaf community both on and off the field”. It also aims to tell the stories of students, teachers and families and the challenges they face and their achievements.
According to Entertainment WeeklyThe writing and production team will also include deaf actors both in front of and behind the camera, with Riverside alumnus John Mousere serving as mentor.

Kotsur became the second deaf actor to win an Oscar for his role as Frank, the head of the Rossi family. codaMatlin first won her Best Actress award in 1987 with children of a little god,
In an emotional speech, Kotsur previously congratulated director Sean Heder for being a “great communicator” in bringing the deaf and hard of hearing community together through film.
He also thanked the deaf theater companies, saying: “I really want to thank all the wonderful deaf theater stages where I was allowed and given the opportunity to develop my craft as an actor.”
Kotsur then ended his speech with a personal thank you to his father, who was paralyzed after a car accident.
