FVR is among those presidents who were able to attract a lot of new investment from other countries, allowing the Asian nation to increase its technologies and scientific innovations.

The Manila Times reported that the Ramos era (1992 to 1998) was the time when the Philippines was referred to as the “tiger economy”.

Before becoming the 12th President of the Philippines, he served as a military man.

After that, he became the Chief of Staff of the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines). Apart from this, he also became one of the heroes of the 1986 Janshakti Revolution.

Due to his personal achievements, President Bongbong Marcos Jr. said that the legacy of FVR will be cherished and remembered by many Filipinos.

Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte also condoled the death of Ramos, saying the contribution of the deceased Filipino leader should be respected.

FVR’s Science, Technology Contribution

During the period of Fidel Ramos, he was able to establish the so-called STAND (Science and Technology Agenda for National Development).

On the other hand, during his 1992 SONA (State of the Nation address), he proposed to enact a law that would create a credible Department of Energy.

Due to his initiative, Congress decided to give him its emergency power to solve the country’s energy crisis. In addition, he is also a signatory to the Republic Act No. 8439 (Magna Carta for Science and Technology Personnel).

The FFTC Agricultural Policy Forum explained that the law recognizes the role of science and technology in maintaining or improving economic growth.
