The Guardians of Oscar Gonzalez: Double-A in Rehab

Gonzalez (Intercoastal) began a rehab assignment at Double-A Akron on Tuesday and went 1-for-5 with a walk and two runs.

Gonzalez has been on the injured list since July 2 with a corrected intercostal strain and will likely be on his rehab assignment at least through the weekend while he works to regain his time at the plate. Prior to the injury, González had played a daily role in right field for the Guardians, but his intercostal injury left him behind fellow rookie Nolan Jones on the depth chart. Since receiving his first call-up to the majors earlier this month, Jones has produced .883 Ops in 17 games.
